What Weave does that ExperClinic does not

Where Weave has the edge

Honest list.If these features matter to your clinic, Weave is the right pick.

Bundled VoIP phone system.

Weave provides the actual telephone system your front desk uses, integrated with the patient inbox. ExperClinic does not. If you're modernizing aging clinic phones and want to consolidate vendors, Weave is one tool instead of two.

AI call intelligence on the Ultimate Plan.

Weave transcribes patient calls, runs sentiment analysis, and flags missed-revenue opportunities (the patient asked about a service the front desk did not follow up on). ExperClinic ships nothing equivalent. For a high-volume practice, this can be a real signal.

Payments and digital forms.

Weave's patients can pay via SMS link or terminal, and digital forms send to patients before their visit. ExperClinic does not have either. The trade-off: Weave's pricing reflects this with the $750 setup fee and per-form upload charges.

Native dental practice management integrations.

Weave integrates with Dentrix and Eaglesoft. ExperClinic does not currently integrate with any dental PMS; practices use CSV bulk import. If a real-time bidirectional sync is critical, Weave is the right pick.

Higher SMS allowance per plan.

Weave's Pro Plan includes 1,500 SMS per month versus ExperClinic Starter's 500. For a high-volume practice that does not need ExperClinic's clinic-specific defaults, the per-SMS economics on Weave's entry plan are better.

What ExperClinic does that Weave does not

Where ExperClinic has the edge

Key differences that matter for clinics.

Sensitive-practice SMS variant.

For mental health, fertility, addiction counselling, oncology, EMDR, and 23 other sensitive specialties (28 in total), ExperClinic uses a context-free SMS template that omits the doctor's name and any clinical reference. A patient's locked phone screen never publishes that they see a therapist or fertility specialist. Weave does not ship an equivalent feature.

91 specialty-specific defaults.

Pick "general dentistry" and ExperClinic auto-applies 60-minute appointments, 180-day reactivation, both reminders on, "Dr. / DDS" credentials. Pick "naturopathy" and you get 60-minute appointments, 90-day reactivation, "Dr. / ND" credentials, holistic SMS tone. Weave's defaults are dental-and-optometry-shaped; if you run a med spa, naturopath, or RMT practice, you will configure more by hand.

Same features on every plan.

ExperClinic's tiers differ in SMS quota and location count only. Every other capability is on every plan. Weave gates AI call intelligence to the Ultimate Plan and feature-tiers other capabilities.

No setup fees, no per-form upload charges.

Weave charges $750 for setup and an additional $200 to migrate digital forms (plus $20 per form). ExperClinic charges $0 in setup fees because there is no phone system to provision and no forms feature to configure. You sign up and import a CSV the same day.

Transparent pricing, no sales call required.

$129, $249, $429, or computed Enterprise. You see the price. You sign up. You pay. Weave requires a demo and a paid setup before the platform is provisioned.

Per-practice STOP scoping.

When a patient texts STOP, ExperClinic scopes the opt-out to your practice only. This avoids accidental cross-practice unsubscribes when a patient sees multiple ExperClinic-using clinics.

FAQ

Common questions

Is ExperClinic actually a Weave alternative?
Yes, for clinics that want SMS review automation, two-way patient messaging, and appointment reminders. ExperClinic does not include the VoIP phone system, AI call intelligence, payment processing, or digital forms that Weave bundles. Practices that need a unified phone system should pick Weave. Practices that want a focused SMS and reviews platform without setup fees should pick ExperClinic.
Why does Weave charge a setup fee and ExperClinic does not?
Weave's setup fee covers VoIP phone provisioning and migration, plus initial digital form configuration. ExperClinic does not provide a phone system or digital forms, so the setup process is just signing up, importing a CSV of patients, and connecting your Google review URL. There is no provisioning step that justifies a setup fee.
How does HIPAA compliance differ?
Both Weave and ExperClinic offer BAA signing for US healthcare providers. Both store patient names and phone numbers; neither is a clinical record system. ExperClinic is built primarily for PIPEDA compliance, which is the strictest framework either contends with. The day-to-day handling is comparable. The main differentiator is that ExperClinic ships a sensitive-practice SMS variant for mental health and other privacy-sensitive specialties that Weave does not.
Can I migrate from Weave?
Yes for the patient list and appointment data, no for the phone system. Export your patient list from Weave, normalize the columns, and import into ExperClinic via CSV (up to 5,000 rows per file). If you rely on Weave's VoIP phone system, you will need to keep that or move to a dedicated VoIP provider; ExperClinic does not replace it.
What is the trial like?
ExperClinic gives you 30 days and 100 SMS at no charge, with no credit card required. Sign up and start. Weave typically requires a sales conversation and a paid setup before the platform is provisioned, since the phone system is part of the offering.
What about the AI call intelligence on Weave's Ultimate Plan?
Weave's AI call intelligence transcribes patient calls and runs sentiment analysis, useful for high-volume practices that want to mine call data. ExperClinic does not have an equivalent feature. If call intelligence is core to your operations, Weave is a better fit.
